Takipsilim, the supposed Filipino remake of
Twilight, has been creating quite a stir in cyberspace. I've read so many hate blogs and rude comments lately about the remake lately. My thoughts?
THOUGHT #1: It really pissed me off how closed-minded Filipinos are. Yes, it is a re-make. Yes, Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao are playing Edward and Bella. But I really think that we should give the show a chance. Not all remakes are awful. Have you seen Ugly Betty? It's a great show right? Well, guess what? It's just a remake of the Colombian telenovela
Betty La Fea!
Yes, the original name of the show really is indeed Betty La Fea so don't go around saying how disgusting the Filipino remake is because ours is closer to the orginal..sort of. Besides, I know Filipinos are gonna watch it nonetheless--out of curiosity.
THOUHT #2: The poster is Photoshop-ed for crying out loud! Isn't it obvious? Apparently not. After seeing Takipsilim's poster, I was already convinced that this was just probably a practical joke someone pulled. Maybe someone thought it was funny so they edited the original poster and posted it online. A few gullible readers might have copy-pasted the picture and spread it through their own blogs. After that was a massive group of angry Twilighters.
Don't worry Twilighters.
ABS-CBN has
denied rumors of reportedly paying $1 million to secure the rights for the television series. A big *whew* to Filipino Twilighters.
My question is though:
Why did ABS-CBN post an article last week that they have in fact exclusive rights to make a television series based on Twilight?Oh, oh. ABS-CBN has some explaining to do!
